Computers for fleets — GPS telemetry for trucks and buses
Logistics and transport operators need on-board systems that survive vibration, voltage spikes and cabins that pass 70°C in a parked truck in July. Consumer electronics do not.
The challenge
Fleet operators who try laptops, tablets or office mini PCs in vehicles run into the same four problems:
Devices break
Engine vibration and rough roads loosen connectors and kill standard devices within months.
Voltage spikes at ignition
Cranking an engine on a 12V or 24V system produces dips and surges that reset or damage ordinary PCs.
Extreme cabin heat
A parked cab in Gulf summer sun gets far hotter than the air outside; batteries swell and fans clog with dust.
Intermittent connectivity
Long desert and cross-border routes need 4G with local buffering so no telemetry is lost.
The IWILL approach
A compact fanless edge computer from the NANO or IBOX range, specified per vehicle after a technical assessment:
Wide DC input
Models with a 9-36V DC input option cover 12V and 24V vehicle systems. Protection against reverse polarity and surges is confirmed per model.
Ignition handling
Start on ignition and a delayed shutdown so the last telemetry is sent without draining the battery — through an ignition controller where the model has none built in.
No moving parts
Passive cooling and SSD storage — no spinning disks or fans to shake loose or clog.
4G LTE and GPS
An M.2 or Mini-PCIe slot for a 4G/5G module with SIM, plus GPS for position, speed and route.
What the deployment is designed to deliver
Reliable data from every vehicle to one dispatch centre.
- Live position, fuel and driver-behaviour data
- No lost telemetry on routes without coverage
- Hardware that lasts in the cabin for years
- Central management of the whole fleet

Frequently asked questions
Is this a certified in-vehicle computer?
Not as standard. We do not claim MIL-STD or E-mark approval for catalogue models. If your project requires a certification, tell us and we will confirm what can be supplied in writing before you order.
Can it survive a parked cab in summer?
Mounting location matters more than anything: out of direct sun, away from the dashboard and with airflow. We check the expected temperature against the unit's rating with you.
Managing a fleet?
We will help you choose and validate the right computer for GPS tracking, telemetry and fleet management.
